Critical + Creative Social Justice Studies (C+CSJS)

This  UBC Research Excellence Cluster was created in 2016. With an emphasis on collaborative, creative, and critical engaged social justice, it is committed to the realization of  The Social Justice Institute (GRSJ)’s vision for transformative and engaged social justice scholarship.

With research and teaching programs tailored for academics, artists, and activists interested analytical, speculative, and creative practices, which are informed by feminist, critical racial, anti-colonial, and trans* perspectives on social and global injustice.

C+CSJS’s  portfolio consists of research and practices – shared  through  courses, events, panels, workshops, films, performances, and publications  –  designed to explore the synergies and tensions between critical and creative work, which attend to  ongoing colonial and racial violence in their various (total, symbolic, subtle, overt, unexpected, quotidian, casual, state) modes of actualisation across the global space.
